Cancer Knows No Borders, a USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin campaign, brought together two rival Major League Baseball All-Stars along with corporate partners Aurora Health Care and Roundy’s Supermarkets. This unique, bi-state effort raised funds that benefited non-profit organizations funding cancer research and helped families battling the disease.
Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs’ first baseman and cancer survivor, raised funds on behalf of the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation. Milwaukee Brewers’ catcher Johnathan Lucroy raised money on behalf of the Aurora Health Care Foundation. Donations made at Mariano’s stores in Illinois benefited the Anthony Rizzo Family foundation while donations at Pick ’n Save, Copp’s and Metro Market locations in Wisconsin benefited the Aurora Health Care Foundation.
